Lisa Levison tells how she remains cool under pressure as an entrepreneur. Her discussion weighs heavenly on believing, taking risks and moving from a "me" frame of mind to "we".
Glenn Carver, author of the newly released book Stand In The Heat: Lessons from Legendary Entrepreneurs on Staying Cool under Pressure ventures into the minds of successful entrepreneurs and the obstacles they have overcome. Lisa Turner Levison, owner of DermaGlove, LLC, Decontamination Restoration Service, LLC and now Turner Capital Inc., exclusive managing company to Derma-Glove, Decontamination Restoration Services (DRS), and Team DRS™ , was one of Carver's chosen vessels. In the book, Levison discusses the importance of taking risks and the effectiveness of believing and focusing on the end goal. She states that "by believing that you're an entrepreneur and that you've got something special; that mindset alone makes you strong enough to get out there and do it."
Levison never stopped believing in or giving up on being an entrepreneur. She believed that she had what it took to stand in the heat and survive. In 2008, with almost little to no working capital, no partners and a very small, loyal support team, Levison was able to invent and launch a ground breaking, innovative product called derma-glove® into the medical marketplace. derma-glove® is a highly efficient personal protection sanitizer that delivers both moisturizing and revitalizing skin bonding protection through a new and revolutionary invis-0-bond™ technology. During this same time frame with Team DRS™ by her side, Levison was able to secure and maintain an environmental consulting contract with two of the nation's largest facilities focusing on implementing safe and healthy protocols for building occupants.
Operating business in a slow economy often times made her doubt whether or not she should continue. Ultimately, it was her ability to believe, focus and change her mindset from "me" to "we" that she was able to progress and successfully accomplish the end results she believed could be a reality. If she didn't believe, then clearly no one else would. Now, in addition to the release of this book, Levison has been able to see her vision for derma-glove® and Team DRS™ come to fruition. Her story represents a true testimony of what it means to believe and focus until the end.
Levison also recognizes the importance of taking risks. Carver states that the reason why he didn't always see an idea through is due to the lack of working capital. When in actuality, the real reason why he believes that he didn't see an idea through was because of fear. In Carver's book, Levison states that it's okay to take risks, however you can not do this without having complete trust that you can control the end result, regardless of how the journey reveals itself. Often times, Entrepreneurs focuses on the what if's, what if I fail and what if I do not succeed? Conversely, Levison realized that she must be her biggest supporter, standing alone at many times in the heat but believing she could and would obtain the final end result. She states, "I have to trust me. I have to trust that my ideas are believable and that I am my biggest supporter until the very end, regardless of the journey to the finish.
