CAN WASHING YOUR FACE BE UNHEALTHY?

Humans typically wash their faces in the morning and again in the evening as a healthy and proactive hygiene regimen. However, this practice might cause your skin to feel drier and tighter after each wash.  If this is the case, you need hydration, not moisturization!

Facts to consider:

Is your cleanser too harsh, stripping the skin’s natural barrier [the outermost layer of the skin] and ultimately leading to moisture loss and dangerous exposure?

Does your skin feel tight and squeaky clean after washing?  If this is the case, you are likely upsetting your natural skin balance and pH, damaging your skin barrier over time.

Are you washing your face with the correct cleanser? If your face feels soft and hydrated immediately afterward, you are okay.

Do you feel compelled to add a moisturizer to the skin immediately after washing? The answer should be yes because I want to add moisture, not to repair dry skin caused by washing.

It is important to remember that pollutants, allergens, irritants, hard water, and exposure to chemicals play a role in your skin’s health, especially for the face. You are actively damaging your natural skin barrier by using products unsuitable for your skin or over-exfoliating and over-washing.

Stress and aging can also cause the skin to deteriorate, so while the latter is inevitable, you might want to consider unisex facial products developed by DERMAGLOVE to strengthen skin barrier function while supporting the body’s immune system.
